How do i get TV audio output from Bose home theater.?

Hi I have a Sharp TV . I have connected my cable connection to the TV however I want the sound output from the 321 Accoustimass home theater. I insertered TV audio output cord into Bose. Its not working. The sound still comes from the TV. Pls help.

Go into the audio menu of the TV (speaker output) and enable the "external speakers".
